ADG Goes Solar
October 1st, 2013
Architectural Design Guild is now the proud owner of a photovoltaic solar array on their office roof located at 2710 Sutton Boulevard in Maplewood. ADG partnered with Brightergy Solar Solutions to populate the roof with the maximum number of panels the roof could support. The system will generate 20KwH of electricity and will be monitored online through Sunny Portal software developed by SMA Solar Technology. The projected payback period of 1.5 years is made possible because of incentives provided through the Ameren UE Solar Rebate program.
Business and building owner, Barry Greenberg, is committed to reducing ADG’s carbon footprint. “We design LEED certified buildings for our clients and I established the Sustainability Commission as part of my role as a City Councilman in Maplewood. It’s only logical to strive for the greatest energy efficiency that can be feasibly attained in our own facility. Our remodel of 2708 Sutton, next door, yielded enough points for Gold LEED. Our office at 2710 was renovated when I bought the building 25 years ago and we are currently undergoing an update that has seen all incandescent lighting switched over to dimmable LED technology. Previous work included installation of cork flooring, energy efficient glazing and a high albedo roof membrane. The next step is to change out the outdated HVAC system with more efficient and effectively located units, because we know that heating and cooling are such major contributors to global warming.”
